18650 batteries are one of the best batteries in the world. They are stronger, hold power for longer and you can reuse them many times by recharging them. The batteries are designed to power many electrical devices, including electric vehicle.

However, just like any other battery types, there is a level of usage they cannot go  beyond. The batteries will only hold power for specific amount of time. And that is why you need to know when to recharge them.

How long do 18650 batteries hold power·

After purchasing vaporizer and picking your battery set, it is important to charge them before using them. The excitement you feel after purchasing your item will not be fulfilled until you have the devices working with the batteries in good position.

But wait! How long is it going to charge the batteries·  This question is very important because it will give you an idea how much longer you will have to wait before trying out your new device. It can make the difference between having a battery that serves you for a long time and one degrades too fast. Understanding charge time it key to keeping your battery working for long.

Fast charging

If you are familiar with batteries, then you know most come with half charge. Manufacturers bring them on the market to keep them in the best health. Batteries degrade first even when they are not in use. The shelf life of 18650 batteries is the same as most batteries and therefore one must be able to recharge them in good time.

Because of this kept power, it usually takes several hours before the batteries are fully charged. You don’t need to be worried when new batteries are taking too long to fill. Give it time and you will see something happening, which means the battery will have accepted full charge and ready for use.

Even though most batteries have internal charging capacities and are good to use direct from the shop, manufacturers advice charging them first. Some say if you don’t do this you will destroy the batteries and will not last for long.

Even if the battery takes a while to full charge, this does not indicate how fast it will discharge. Depending on how much you use the battery and the amount of power your device consumes, it might take a shorter time than you think.

Just to be on the safe side, give your batteries about two to three hours. Some recommend keeping them on charge whole but that will only lead to overcharge, which does no hood to your batteries.

Normal daily charging

After you fast charge the battery, you need to keep your eyes on how fast it discharges. 1865o batteries are very tricky though. It is easy to destroy the cells of you don’t charge them as recommended. Some manufactures will advise you to charge your batteries when they reach a certain percentage.

Charging 18650 batteries that are drained may take longer than fast charge. It can go up to 6 hours for you to have full charge. Apart from this, there are a few other factors that may contribute to increased charging time:

· The type of charge you are using. Different chargers offer different functionality when it comes to providing the best charging option. Some are faster and designed with better technology to ensure you battery does not overcharge while others are just slow. Fast chargers are better because they give the battery more power quicker. If you are using an external charger, it is important to check on the specifications. This will give you an idea of how much the charger is supplying power to your batteries.

Build in USB chargers are a better option if you are looking to fill the batteries faster.

· The battery capacity. Battery capacities are measured I milliamp Hours. Some batteries have large capacities while others have smaller. This mean the batteries with larger capacities will take longer to charger, while the others will take shorter.

Charging time and type of charger used

· External chargers. It is said the batteries tend to last longer when they are charged slowly and consistently. Therefore, you can use a multi-bay charger to hold several batteries. Doing this may change  amperage, giving your batteries enough time to charge. However, you will notice over time that your batteries’ capacity keeps reducing. This is the time you need to replace the batteries.

· Built-in chargers. Most batteries have built in chargers especially those build when the vaporizer was just getting into the market. With this, a good charger was built to protect the battery in the best manner possible. However, many people don’t encourage the use of quick charge, as this makes your battery wear out faster.

After charging, there are different factors that may affect how long your battery holds the power. These may include, heat, improper use, constant low power and overcharging.

There are many different factors that may affect the charging time of your batteries. This means, you should be ready to let them take four to five hours before full charge.

The most important thing is to let the battery charge all the way before unplugging and using. On the same note, ensure the battery fully used and empty before charging. Note however that batteries will never fully discharge 100% or the battery will be destroyed. Keep exercising your battery whenever possible until you have a good charging practice.

The charge time for these batteries is equal to the ratio of rated capacity to current charge.  However, you should consider resistance as well when charging.

How often should I replace my 18650 battery·

Batteries run out of capacity to hold power as you charge them. Depending on the conditions you charge in and how you use the batteries, it may take much shorter for the batteries to become weak. When you therefore notice your batteries are not holding power for long even after full charge, you must replace them.

Now that you know how best to use your 18650 batteries, it should be easy keeping them for long. Be careful with the usage though as they can be a big health risk with improper use.
