Batteries are essential to run any laptop, mobile phone, tablet, or other modern device of communication. People also need batteries to supply power to their car engines and other electronic appliances. Thus, different kinds of batteries are needed for various uses in our daily life, as well as in the fields of telecommunication, healthcare, and public transport. Batteries differ from each other in terms of sizes, chemicals used inside, and types of chargers used for recharge.

All Types of Batteries Sizes

AA battery also called Double A is the most widely used battery. The size of this battery is appropriate for running many appliances, including sound systems, large torches, digital thermometers, and cordless phones. It has a voltage of 1.5V and it can work efficiently even in high current flow. It also works well in digital clocks where the very little current is drawn and needs continuous function.

-AAA battery is also very popular in small devices, like toys, remote control devices, pencil torches, calculators, and bathroom scales. It also has a voltage of 1.5V and works well in devices that do not need a lot of energy for the required performance. This compact battery has very good durability, which is another positive side of using it.

-AAAA battery is much thinner than AA or AAA battery. It is usually needed to operate LED penlight, glucometer, hearing aid, laser pointer, and stylus pen. It is not commonly available and is always sold in a pack of two or more batteries.

-C battery is a heavy-duty battery that can be used in devices that are used too frequently. It is mainly used in battery-driven toys, flashlights, flush sensors of toilets, portable radio, and automatic sanitizer dispensers.

-D battery is used in devices that need the power supply for a long time at a stretch. Thus, this battery is perfect for stereos, large flashlights, air freshener devices, and automatic soap or paper napkin dispensers. It has a bulky size and can be used for hours in commercial devices as well.

-9V battery has a unique rectangular shape and is used in appliances that demand high voltage for operating smoothly. Thus, it is used in temperature alarms installed in kitchen appliances, infrared thermometers, coolers, and electronic scales. It functions in all extreme temperatures, ranging from 0 degree to 130 degrees and is also preferred for its great durability.

-CR123A battery is a source of high power to devices, like wireless security systems, tactical gear, LED flashlights, and home automation systems. It is shorter in size than an AA battery but it produces a voltage of 3V that is double the capacity of other batteries. Thus, it has much better longevity than common batteries, due to the greater ratio of power: size.

-CR2032 battery is a small-sized round battery that is usually used in wristwatches, compact thermometers, small toys, pocket calculators, and some medical devices. Due to its tiny size, it is almost weightless and fits into small devices easily.  It has a voltage of 3V and it is highly durable due to its larger power-weight ratio.

-23A battery is a small battery that is mainly used in little devices, like watches, wireless doorbells, remote control devices, garage door openers, and some medical devices. Since it can deliver 12V power, it works best in appliances that need a great deal of electrical energy for instant operation.

All Types of Batteries Store

It is advised to store all types of batteries in cool and dry places. Batteries should be kept away from all sources of heat. However, normal room temperature is sufficient to store batteries and it is not necessary to store batteries in a refrigerator. The batteries should be taken out when devices are not supposed to be used for a long time. A device should be switched off before taking out the battery and preserving it properly in a packed way.

It is best to store batteries in their original packed form as bought from shops. If the original packaging is damaged while taking out the battery, it can be stored safely in a plastic box. When batteries are stored, they should be kept in the same alignment as placed inside a device. It is better to store old and new batteries separately so that they do not get mixed up. The topmost part of a battery can be further secured with a small plastic cap.

Battery Charger for All Types of Batteries

A charger is an inevitable part to be sold with a battery-driven device so that the battery can be recharged regularly. Alkaline batteries are usually rechargeable and need a suitable charger for restoring their strength. Now, two types of battery chargers are available for charging all types of batteries; namely Smart charger and Timely controlled charger.

-Smart charger is also called an Intelligent charger, as it can easily identify the missing voltage by checking the peak voltage of a battery. Therefore, each charger is customized for a specific type of battery. So, this charger is costlier than ordinary ones and still preferred by many people due to the better convenience that it offers to users. It prevents damage to the battery that may be caused due to over-charging or under-charging. Thus, users do not need to check the status of their batteries while charging.

-Timely controlled charger is provided with an automatic and inbuilt timer, which is installed while manufacturing the charger at the factory. It is applicable to all batteries and the timer goes off as soon as the battery is fully charged. Thus, there is no chance of over-charging the battery because it shuts off when charging is over. However, it does not have charge detecting ability and thus, all batteries are charged equally for the same time limit, irrespective of their specific capacities.

Therefore, people buy suitable batteries and chargers as per their personal or commercial needs. They can follow the instructions given in the manuals provided by the manufacturers of their devices, to know about the kind of battery and charger to be used.
