22 Years' Battery Customization

The list of major global manufacturers with battery management systems (BMS)

Dec 18, 2018   Pageview:3445

The core of an electric car is the battery, while the core of the battery is in the battery management system. As a real-time monitoring, automatic equalization, intelligent charging and discharging electronic components, the battery management system plays an important role in ensuring safety, extending life and estimating remaining power. It is an indispensable component in power and energy storage battery packs. It guarantees the normal operation of electric vehicles through a series of management and control. “The battery pack without battery management is a bomb”, and the importance of the battery management system is evident.

At present, the battery management system market has the following characteristics:

1. With the growth of new energy vehicle sales, the market size of battery management systems will grow rapidly. At present, vigorously developing new energy vehicles has become the consensus of all countries. Major countries such as the United States, China, Japan, Germany, South Korea, and the United Kingdom have all established their own plans for the new energy automobile industry. In 2013, the global battery management system market value increased by more than 10%, and the growth rate from 2014 to 2016 will jump to 25-35%. It is predicted that by 2015, the annual global sales of electric vehicles will exceed 1 million units, and the market size of BMS systems will reach about 20 billion yuan. If the hybrid vehicle is considered, the total market size of the BMS system is expected to reach 40 billion yuan, and the BMS system has a broad market space. And only the battery management system demand market in the Chinese market will reach more than 36 billion yuan in 2020.

2. The current price of the battery management system is still high, and the future price will decrease as the production scale expands. Currently, the price of the battery management system is positively related to the number of cells in the battery pack, which accounts for 30% of the total cost of the battery pack. Considering that the circuit board and chip design of BMS are still in the initial stage, the complexity, update speed and mass production scale of the later products will gradually increase. Therefore, the price of mainstream battery management system is expected to decline slowly. In 2020, it will drop to about 60% today.

3. In the future, BMS products with active equalization will become the mainstream of the market.

The advantages of active balanced BMS are: 1. Lossless equalization. 2. High energy efficiency. At present, the BMS products prevalent in foreign countries mostly adopt the active equalization function design. Most of the mainstream electric vehicles in the world adopt the active equalization mode, but the price of this product is relatively high. The domestically adopted passive equalization function and BMS products without equalization function are low in price and simple in function. In the future, with the large-scale production of electric vehicles, the technical requirements of domestic vehicle manufacturers for battery management systems will inevitably increase. With the development of the domestic economy, the market development of the battery management system faces enormous opportunities and challenges.

4, battery management system market competition is fierce, technical polarization is serious. With the hot topic of new energy vehicles and the market, battery management technology has also received much attention in China. Many professional manufacturers, power battery companies and vehicle manufacturers have begun to engage in research and production in this area. In China, there are many BMS manufacturers, and most of them are private enterprises, showing a very fierce competitive situation. From the technical point of view, there is also a serious polarization. Some companies have mastered advanced battery management system technologies through their own research or acquisition, such as Junsheng Electronics; and some of them have only been able to develop low-end BMS products. At present, each host factory has different choices for BMS. This has also brought development opportunities to the majority of BMS manufacturers.

In the future, with the increasing number of battery management system companies and the upgrading of technical requirements, the battery management system industry has further requirements for reshuffle.

At present, the main manufacturers of domestic BMS are as follows:
